Since 2003, head of the progressive Berlin theatre Hebbel am Ufer, which offers theatre, dance, performance lectures, art exhibitions, panel discussions and conferences. Lilienthal has previously been chief dramaturge at the Volksbühne am Rosa Luxemburg Platz in Berlin. In 2002, he curated the festival Theater der Welt in Germany. Throughout his career as a dramaturge and theatre manager, Lilienthal has been driven to introduce innovative theatre productions from among others the former Eastern Europe to a West European audience. Lilienthal has edited the book Ausländer raus. Bitte liebt Österreich, a book about Christoph Schlingensief’s action of the same name from 2000.
